The famous French Fashion house has celebrated a milestone anniversary — 70 years.
Christian Dior definitely deserves a credit for what he has done for the whole fashion
world: he has invented the 'new look' and revealed to the world an endless elegance,
timeless and modern.
Most of his life Dior devoted to art — the 'new look' came to him at
the age of 42 only while in the fashion he was engaged only for 10 years, heretofore he
was into drawing and art. He was one of the first who had arranged exhibitions of Dali,
Klee, Giacometti works, and his haute couture dresses he was creating while
contemplating works of Berard, Picasso, and Braque. On the death of the couturier, he
was followed by the superior ones — due to them the House is blossoming and runway
shows draw all the toffs from one decade to the next. Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Boan,
Gianfranco Ferre, John Galliano, Raf Simons — all of them brought something special into
DIOR style, from Galliano's еpatage and the theatrical to Simons's graphics, futurism,
and tales of the 90's.
Raf Simons was followed by Maria Grazia Chiuri who was creating beautiful collections
in tandem with Pierpaolo Piccioli for Valentino earlier on. The designer has created
unique collections as if she was following the notes written by Dior himself. She has
brought to life such models as corselets, hourglass silhouette, bouffant skirts, the Bar
jacket, pointed court shoes — all of these are perfectly belong to the most modern looks.
Her fidelity to the maestro is quite figurative and non-literal — it is the best asset of
Chiuri who is following the lead of DIOR — flawless luxury and perfection.
