The designer was born in 1971 in Columbia, graduated from the academy of fine arts in antwerp. Subsequently he used to work as an assistant with various fashion designers, including John Galliano in person. In the 90's he was hired by the former professor of the academy Wim Neels, and in march of 2001 Ackermann debuted with his own collection of womenswear. Three weeks later he was appointed the head designer of 'Ruffo research', but still continued the work over his own line. At grand fashion festival he gained 'Swiss textiles award'. Nowadays he lives and works in Paris, successfully running his eponymous brand. 'HAIDER ACKERMANN' has 150 points of sale all over the world, including 'L'ECLAIREUR' in Paris, 'LANE CRAWFORD' in Gong Hong, 'DOVER STREET MARKET' in London and 'SAKS' in New York. The latest fashion shows by 'HAIDER ACKERMANN' are considered nearly the most important event of Paris fashion week and the designer's muse is the iconic actress Tilda Swinton, who for the red carpets loyally chooses the attires by 'HAIDER ACKERMANN' only.
