This globally known brand was established by Valentino Garavani who opened his first
studio in 1959. After three years since the first fashion show a new shining star raised in
the fashion world, and he especially stood out because of his passion for red and white
colors. The contrast between black and white and the vamp red were in every
VALENTINO collection.
The partnership of Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti
lead to the rise of a truly international empire – boutiques were opened in Europe, USA,
Japan and the Fashion Academy in Rome. Luxury, glorious femininity, elegance, slender
waistline and tight hips, plenty of red and white, diagonal draperies and tucks, fake
shoulders – all are the marks which give away immediately the aristocratic style of
VALENTINO. The brand's outfits were an indispensable part of Oscar parties, such
celebrities as Elizabeth Taylor, Jackie Onassis, Courteney Cox and Jennifer Lopez wore
the brand to their weddings.
Valentino Garavani was the creative director of the brand until 2007 when he was
succeeded by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli. Since 2016 Piccioli is the only
creative director and he changed practically every aspect of the brand. The new logo
became the symbol of the new strategy: the traditional VALENTINO was changed for
VLTN. The collections are now oriented to younger and more active audience, however,
the traditions and references to luxury that Valentino Garavani promoted are still there,
appearing in a modern and unique fashion.
