ADIDAS X PARLEY
ADIDAS is one of the founders of the ParleyfortheOceans project. His main idea was to
transform used plastic into professional sports equipment. The first sneaker, unveiled by
the UN in 2015, was made from fiber made from leftover plastic fishing nets. Today the
company produces millions of pairs of sneakers and a collection of professional
sportswear made from recycled plastics. Read more
The ADIDAS X PARLEY collection helps not only avoid the use of primary plastics, but
also prevent used plastics from entering the oceans and redefine our attitude towards this
“one-time” material.
Parley's global partners collect plastic waste from remote beaches and coastal
communities such as the Maldives. It is cleaned and sorted by hand and then sent to a
factory where it is recycled and dehydrated into small particles. After processing, these
particles become the basis for the production of OceanPlastic® polyester fiber, the
functional properties of which are in no way different from those of fibers made from
unrecycled plastic. From this material, sneakers, T-shirts, leggings and more are later
produced. Each model in the ADIDAS X PARLEY collection is made up of at least 75%
used plastic.
By 2024, ADIDAS has committed to completely replace virgin polyester with recycled
polyester. In the longer term, she plans to completely eliminate plastic, saving the life of
the oceans, our planet and, in general, each of us.
